What to say?
What do you say about the senseless shooting at Virginia Tech? I think that’s all you can really say, is that they were just senseless. As more and more is revealed about the shooter and the events of the day, you read and watch some pretty amazing stuff. I saw a student who was shot in the bicep, talk to Brian Williams a few hours after being released from a local area hospital. The immediate feedback from those involved is a direct example of the age we are living in. Videos being posted on the internet only hours after the actual shootings occurred. Feedback from students that were in rooms where shootings occurred happened again within hours. I always dismissed stories about our generation and how we use both our technology and the media in ways that no one has ever done before. But after the events of yesterday, and seeing how much immediate feedback was available, it just shocked me. I think the one image most burned in my head it the cell phone video taken by a student, in which you can clearly hear gun shots near by. That video had to be on the internet within hours of it actually happening. It truly is amazing. Yesterday to me was very depressing. I couldn’t help but feel really sick inside. I mean that’s over 30 lives lost for no reason, that’s hundreds of thousands of friends and family members that must mourn for no reason, that’s an entire school and community that will be stained for years and years to come. There will just be questions in my mind that will never be answered, the biggest being why? I am truly and deeply saddened, and my prayers truly do go out to all those who lost their lives, and the family and friends of those people as well. Keep them in your heart and in your prayers.
