9/11 As I Recall
Thinking back on that day, it really dosent seem like it was 5 years ago. I know that sounds corny and all, but Im serious. In that time I have changed so very much as a person. I graduated from college, had a big sister, started a number of new relationships both personal and other. Amazing changes in world affairs have taken place, a war has been raging for years, and the fucking Red Sox won a World Series. But seriously I do remember my perspective on that day, and what I saw. I was in the hall and one of my teachers pulled me in his room and told me a plane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers. I swear to God that when I saw the TV channel he was watching, I thought it was a movie, it looked exactly like Armagedon or something. I remember seeing breif images then, and then being pulled into a class and actually getting talked to about the seriousness of the situation. I really dont think I realized how bad things were until I got home and talked to my mother. It hit me that evening, I just couldnt believe it, when you sit alone in your room and think about the terror, all the people that died, and what this would lead to. I dont think about it enough, its really a horrible thing, and all the people that have died as a result is even more sickening. But God Bless all that died that day, all that didnt know they were going to die, and people should really never forget about that day, its sad that from now on out there will only be one day a year when most people really stop and think about that day, but thats how it goes i guess. I do like the saying "We will never forget."
I've often wondered what it was like for people not living in a city. Yes I was in Boston, not New York, but there was that feeling that maybe they were coming for you then. What was it like out in East Bumfuck, Nebraska or Boonville, New York.

I myself, at the time, didnt realize how serious this situation was. It hit me a coupla days later as to how many innocent people has lost their lives, and how many families were mourning. Recently Ryan and I went to NYC and visited the twin towers site. It was very sad. The auro around that place was just sadness. There were still flowers there from 9/11 anniversary and pictures of people who lost their lives and writings about them. Over by the subway there were blown up pictures from that day and a timeline, with many people observing these. I read the timeline, and in two pictures there was a firefighter helping a woman out of the building, and in another pic there was a woman police officer helping a man out of the building. Next to both pictures it said that both these people went back into the builing to help more people out and both lost their lives when the building collapsed. That was very sad to read. "We will always remember"
