Where Art Thou, Pizza Republic
kenny come back My favorite Brookline pizza joint, Pizza Republic looks like it closed its doors. I went to the store a couple of weeks ago at 9:00 PM on a Friday night and it was closed. I gave it a couple of days but each time I stopped by the door was locked. The chairs were still in there, no message on the door and it didn't look like the owners gutted it. What happened, guys? They had some solid pizza. Large slices, not a lot of sauce and friendly service (they remembered me). I'm a slices guy so I didn't try out the rest of the menu. Cheaper than Upper Crust with shorter wait times. I guess that means they weren't popular enough. Their slices went great with a Belgian ale on a Friday night. I guess it's back to my old college haunt, My Brother's Place. It's too bad though, Brookline, for all of its dining options, is a little lacking in good pizza joints.
