Dog Poop Park
Winthrop Park is a block from my home. When I go to the gym on Saturday or Sunday morning there are usually about 10-20 dogs running around between 9 and 1. They look like they are just the happiest animals on the planet. They're happy and that's great but I always think to myself that there is no way that place isn't just caked in dog poop.

Well now there's a "heated battle" over off leash hours in the park. This, my friends, is local government. It is run by people with too much damn time on their hands. I can't help but thinking that the people trying to limit the hours just need to relax and let these dogs, who live in a cramped city, have their 4 hours a day to run around and sniff. One resident remarked "noise from the park is unbearable". I would ask if this person realizes he or she lives in a city. Cities have a tendency to create noise.

There's actually a proposal to have Brookline residents buy a tag if they want to take their dog to the park. That's right, people want residents to have to pay for taking their dogs to this public space. I could have sworn we pay taxes for that. I actually think that a free tag given to all Brookline residents who have dogs wouldn't be a bad idea. But for the love of God, people, let the dogs have their park where they can run and fetch and shit.
